...to say, yes, AtO's chapter 14 isn't getting posted online today.
I haven't finished editing. But rest assured, I'm quite sick of working on the chapter- I've run out of nice music to listen to while editing- and am very eager to get done with it. If only it could magically edit itself in an instant.
Anyway new hopeful publish date is March 3. Or earlier if things work out.

ReplyDeleteMaybe you should just post the chapter, otherwise you're going to be agonizing over it for ages. Just... give yourself a break, let people read it and tell you what they think, and then work on improving in the next chapter. It's better than stressing yourself out over trying to meet an editing deadline, feeling like you haven't edited enough and pushing the deadline back.
ReplyDeleteLittle rule in the editing business- the deadline is the law, whatever you have by then gets put out, mistakes and all. Then, once it's seen, people tell you what's wrong with it and you don't make those same mistakes in the NEXT thing you write/edit. Cause if you keep trying to make one thing as perfect as you can you end up finding that it will never be perfect and you never finish anything.
So, stop worrying! Just post, relax, wait for input, and then work on something else. I can totally see you editing yourself into your grave if you don't.
You know, I'm quite surprised that there aren't people bitching about you updating :D See how everyone loves you? They don't want to stress you out :)

ReplyDeleteActually, editing time has been really scarce these past few days. So I haven't actually gotten anything substantial done on the chapter since last weekend-- hoping to put aside some time today to work on the chapter. But weekends are just dangerously distracting on principle.

ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I've been half-promising an update on my I-refuse-to-admit-it's-dead story for years now (literally :S ) so I have no place to judge anyone's no-time issues! Really, no teasing us with completed but unposted chapters and I'm happy. :)
ReplyDeleteBesides, as a general rule, it is of course most important to write / edit for us loyal readers and neglect RL concerns like sleeping and eating and earning enough to live off. After all, who needs to worry about pesky things like that? They're completely useless and over-rated... if necessary for a writer to be at her best... Damn it. ;)
