Summertime Productivity

It's August! And you know what that means, don't you?

Well for me it means getting even more exhausted in the heat over here. Not a bad thing. In fact it's one of those awesome things I love about summer.

Yeah, I'm weird like that.

Anyway you're probably thinking that I'm going to use the excuse of summer activities not to write fanfiction.

You'd be half-right.

I've actually got a good amount of writing done. The only thing is that I've written a lot more non-fanfiction over the past month.

Wait!

Let me finish.... geez, you guys always assume the worst (something I noticed from AtO's reviews that talk about future plot).

So, I wrote a lot of non-fanfiction. But I also wrote a lot of fanfiction. just that it's a whole lot less compared to my other writing.

Here's the list of how much fanfiction draftiness I wrote. Seriously though, remember the wordcounts are for the drafts, so don't get excited.

I wanted to share the numbers with you cos they make me (a super-lazy procrastinator) feel rather accomplished.

1- Against the Odds- since you're probably only interested in news about that anyway. (Chapter 14 current word-count: 4,369. Future chapter scene: 1837.)
2- Detour to Evolution (Removed all traces of Itachi* from the final chapters I'd written- which meant editing 8327 words of story. Re-did most of the chapters= rewriting at least 4500+words. And also managed to write up an omake for the story.)
3- My still-nameless HpxFairyTail story (which was 9900+ words but I decided to re-write it to see why the story didn't feel ready to be uploaded. And my re-write of the story so far has 1624 words)

And there were loads of plot-bunnies/ideas for other fanfiction too. I wrote a few of the saner ones but don't want to include them in my list cos they're not as important at the moment.

Hmm, how about some teasers from what I've written? Not AtO obviously, cos I have a feeling putting teasers from that story will just be... a bad idea**. So I'll give you snippets from two other fanfics-in progress that are kind of interesting (at least to me).

So here's a little something from my HpxSupernatural story (that's currently 7794 words long and won't get finished anytime soon)

“Do you even know how this apocalypse got started?”
“Does it matter?” Harry said, “All I need to know is how I can help end it.”
“Even though you're not one of His children?

And this bit is from a Fairy Tail fanfic. (it's 8815 words and not to be confused with my HpxFairyTail story)

“I didn't think putting information together like this was illegal,” Lucy said.
Makarov nodded. “Good, remember to say the same thing if the council ever finds out and questions you.”
“Master!”

So yeah, loads of writing progress. The only sad thing is that I haven't read any of the fanfic updates that I've got on story alert. But I'm sure I'll get to them eventually.

Hopefully this post stops you guys from thinking that I've dropped off the internet again,

Polar.
* You're probably wondering about the whole removing Itachi from the Detour to Evolution story. Hmm, how do I say this? You know how all the Uchiha are sort of attention hoggers? Yeah in what I had written during November of last year, Itachi's role was just... anyway, I just wanted Grimmjow and Team Seven to remain in the spotlight. So the re-write was necessary.
**Bad idea to put AtO teasers? Yes, especially since I can't tell you when chapter 14 will be complete and uploaded online.

Very happy to see this post although we don't ALL care about AtO with the exclusion of all else. Seeing a healthy draft word count for that story is lovely but DtE is a fantastic story as well (and probably with a more unique premise than AtO, though they have both been beautifully excecuted and AtO is very unique in execution). I can't comment on FairyTail because I'm not in the fandom, hmm... I may have to read the manga sometime.

On your progress list I'm also looking forward to... er, I was going to list it but then it was kind of everything. Everything but the FairyTail stuff and that's only because I don't know that series. So yeah. I'm kinda coming across as a creepy stalker right now...

Other than your two main fics (AtO and DtE) I'd like to see King the most (because I loved the first chapter/premise) closely followed by 'Conversations with Death' and the HPxSherlock story. Could you give more details on those last two, or are they top secret until further notice?

Best of luck with all your fics, though remember to take breaks and have fun too~ *Huggles*

  2.  WHAT?! You are not calling "Against the Odds" unique?! Kill the infidel!!!
    Sorry, I couldn't help it.

How many stories are there with the cousin/brother/long lost relative plot premise? Polar has done so much with it and MADE it unique, however the premise HAS been done before. How many people have done something like DtE?

    Case. I have made it.

reply is late... apologies for that. A very classic case of me
remembering to take too many breaks-to catch up with all my reading-
    instead of doing productive things.

Progress list? That's more like a wish-list-with-no-deadlines that I really hope to complete.

    Ooohhh
King, I actually have 35 of my 100 themes written already- well they've
been written for a long while. I just haven't added to them in a while.
Some of those themes- like '67%'- are just too hard to write for.

    The
HpxSherlock and HpxSPN stories- if by top-secret you mean stories that
dont' actually have a fixed plot to spoil yet, then yes, they're top
    secret-ish.

    Details-
well the super tiny dialogue in the blog post above is from
Conversations with Death- it's Harry talking with... Death. I've been
reading a lot of celtic mythology as 'research' to flesh out bits of the
story. Well actually I started with Celtic and now I'm just all over
the place, reading any mythology that deals with 'Death' and the
'Underworld'. And sometimes I re-watch the scene in SPN where Death
makes his awesome first appearance also for 'research'. Hmm, more
details? There's no 'Master of Death' business as such in the story. No
romance either. And my love of the HP trio really shows in that story?

    HpxSherlock:
Another mass of dialogue at the moment- there is a tentative plot line
and I haven't worked on the story properly in months. But I do have some
fixed ideas for it: Ron and Harry are Aurors and they don't like
Mycroft cos... (hmm, let's say top secret reason for now) Anyway since
they know Mycroft, they know of Sherlock -though they never met him. Not
keen on anyone with the name Holmes, they're pleasantly surprised when
they end up liking and befriending Sherlock and John. Mycroft isn't
happy- and probably secretly jealous- while Moriarty is even crazier
with jealousy? Oh and Scotland Yard is just confused by Sherlock
managing to get 'friends' Something like that.

Obviously things can change drastically as I write more and edit. They always do.
