“Where are you going?” Kisame
asked.
Itachi straightened his coat.
“Are you going to inspire that
old director to make a sequel?” Kisame asked with a long-suffering
internal sigh.
Itachi didn’t react, but that was
enough of an answer to Kisame.
“Your sharingan probably doesn't work
on him properly. He’ll just make a new film instead of a sequel,”
Kisame didn’t have to say ‘like last time’ out loud.
Itachi was still sour that the first film, his favourite, hadn’t
gotten the sequel he’d planned for.
“They teased a sequel, this time.
They should be filming it,” Itachi said.
“You don’t know how they do things
in the film industry. Maybe it takes a while to start a sequel.”
“It’s been three months,” Itachi
said.
“Since the movie came out,” Kisame
retorted.
Itachi’s eyes gleamed red.
Kisame didn’t look away. “You know
I’m right.”
Itachi stared at him for a moment
longer. Then with a deliberate look of dismissal, he turned and
walked away.
“What do I tell Leader if he assigns
us a mission?”
Itachi disappeared from sight.
That was all the encouragement he
needed.
An hour later, with his Akatsuki cloak
hidden away, Kisame stood on an almost empty beach of pristine white
sand and closed his eyes to breathe in the salty ocean air.
“Excuse me,” a voice called out.
People at the beach could be annoying,
but at least there was more than enough space to ignore them.
“Excuse me,” a young male voice
called out again. “Are you Itachi’s friend?”
Kisame’s neck twinged in protest at
the speed with which he turned to the voice.
A bespectacled teen looked at him with
a disconcerting smile of recognition. “It is you!”
Kisame blinked in confusion, hand
tightening around Samehada’s hilt.
“Oh right, I forgot about these,”
the boy pushed up his glasses to reveal bright green eyes on a now
familiar face. “Remember me? We met once at one of the,” the boy
lowered his voice, “signings a while back.”
Kisame stared at the actor from
Itachi’s favourite movies, lost for words.
“I don’t think Itachi told me your
name back then,” the actor said with a sheepish look.
“Kisame.”
“Nice to meet you, Kisame, I’m
Harii,” the teen replied as though Kisame didn’t already know his
name from seeing it on the big screen.
“What are you doing here?” Kisame
asked.
“I’m on vacation until Makino shows
up,” Harii shrugged and then frowned. “If he shows up.”
“The director is coming here?”
Kisame asked, worry creeping down his neck. That meant Itachi would
show up here. That would be bad.
“Only if he decides that we need to
film some new scenes,” Harii said.
“Can you add new scenes to a released
film?”
Harii glanced at him and leaned closer
with a secretive smile. “For the sequel.”
Kisame gaped. “What? You already
filmed that?”
“Makino filmed two movies when people
thought we were just filming one,” Harii said. “He’s big on
surprising people.”
“That's crazy,” Kisame said. “So
the sequel is already done.” Itachi didn't need to visit the
director after all.
“It's not done until Makino stops
working on the story.” Harii sighed, his eyes squinting at
something in the distance. “Looks like there's actually going to be
some filming to do.”
Kisame turned to find a young man
running towards them.
“Harii-san!” the man called out as
he ran towards them. He held out a thick envelope and gasped for
breath when he finally stopped.
“When's Makino coming then?” Harii
asked as he pulled out a bound stack of papers from the envelope.
“He said something about searching
for something to play his newest character?” the man said with a
sheepish look.
Harii groaned even as he scanned
through the pages, stopping when he landed on a page filled with red
ink. “He put in a whole new character. How is that just going to be
a few scenes?”
Kisame turned away from the script. He
should have also walked away so that he didn't hear their
conversation. It had nothing to do with him. And he disliked
spoilers.
But no one was telling him to leave.
And there wasn't really any discussion
of the plot.
“It's not a major character in this
film,” the man said.
Paper crinkled as Harii flipped through
it. “But he becomes a major character in the sequels!”
Kisame's ears twitched. Sequels?
As in more than one upcoming sequel? Itachi was going to lose his
mind when he heard that.
“So Makino-sama needs to take time
and care in choosing the actor who will take on the role.”
“Or,” Harii said. “You can just
tell Makino that I’ve found the actor for the role.”
“You have?” the man asked in
surprise.
Kisame’s skin prickled with a
terrible foreboding.

I'm sure there's nothing to worry about, Kisame.
