AC_D11:An Alternate Temple Scenario

This is a partial fill for an Anonymous prompt sent in through the Ask Box, “Are the December prompts still open? If they are i had two suggestions: 1) A kinda angsty to eventual happy one for Monk Harry on ffnet. Naruto survives but Harry does not. This starts off a Groundhog situation for Naruto since Harry was never meant to die (cuz of the prophecy or since he doesn't really belong in the world, etc.) and the day loops continuously. The only way forward is to keep Harry alive. 2) Alternate Job-Professional Ghost Hunter.”

This is way too complicated for a prompt- groundhog day scenarios require a good amount of words and work to be anywhere near good. And the only groundhog day story I've ever liked is an Original fiction called Mother of Learning (Read it, you won't be disappointed).

So, I'm only going to do the slightly easier part- have a short fill for the angsty portion of the prompt.

Amidst the Kyuubi's horrible snarls echoing in his mind, the throb of wounds that wouldn't heal and his chakra refusing to move, Naruto didn't know how to get out of this situation.

Other than the Akatsuki pair, no one else at the temple moved.

Not the monks.

Not the ninja he had come along with.

And most definitely not nii-san.

That final thought, more than anything else, left Naruto paralysed.

As though summoned by Naruto's thoughts, nii-san landed in front of him with a loud noise, his shirt torn. Red dripped down his exposed right side as splinters of wood fell from nii-san's shaking fingers. “You touch him, you die.”

The Akatsuki monster who had captured Naruto, Hidan, laughed.

Fear filled Naruto and he screamed in spite of the blood in his mouth.

Nii-san glanced back, a soft smile on his lips as he fell in a shower of red.

“Did you know this pathetic weakling, you animal? It looks like you did,” Hidan said in between laughs.

Naruto gave in to the Kyuubi, his anguish merging with the twisting anger that made his chakra coils burn. They snarled in tandem, ready for revenge.

Hidan grinned and pulled a black rod out of nii-san's body and turned it around so that it's pointed end pressed down against his black painted chest.

With pure rage guiding them, burning chakra surged up to protect the spot that Hidan was aiming for.

Hidan stabbed down, changing his target at the last moment.

They snarled, waiting for the new wound to appear on their own body like before.

Hidan's laugh sputtered into a tortured choke as blood dribbled down his mouth. His strange black and white painted skin receded with a poisonous tinge of green as he screamed. He dropped, a tortured look etched in his unmoving face.

Silence.

The Kyuubi pulled back in confused silence.

A hand extended in a rush of black strings and grabbed his throat in a crushing grip.

Green lit up his vision and the hand burned with an audible sizzle of skin.

The second Akatsuki man snarled and jerked back, but green raced up his dark armoured skin. He fell with a scream, his thread monsters melting into green tinged puddles.

Naruto coughed, wanting to laugh at how easily the monsters had fallen, but tears blurred his vision.

No one else moved in the temple.

Being in the festive mood of the season, I don't think there was as much angst in here as there could have been. Sorry.
